A long stretch of the road,
streetlights lighting a moonless night,
my car speeding along,
as my feet pushed the speed,
sweet music filling the emptiness,
your thoughts intensifying my need.
Other travelers of the night,
zooming past very fast,
soon meet me at the next stop light,
Sometimes I overtake a few,
leaving them way too behind,
without a care for a second view.
Broken lost thoughts wander,
through the realms of my mind,
making me smile for a while,
or grieve over a bitter hurt,
I go deep and deeper within,
Disconnecting from this emotional effort.
The night lights shine and shimmer,
Silence and darkness play around,
I lose conscious awareness,
the wheels continue in a rehearsed mode,
in the stillness of this dark night,
it’s just me and this long empty road.
